Step 1: Select a population sample. Using the VAR.

Step 2: Arrange the data in your spreadsheet. Sort the sample data into the spreadsheet using appropriate columns, cells, and labels. 

Step 3: Select a separate cell for the formula. 

Step 4: Enter the VAR. 

Step 5: Evaluate the sample variance.
